EPLAW’s ‘statuts’ (Articles of Association) are in French because we are an association under Belgian law (which also would have allowed them to be in Dutch, incidentally). We are in the process of finalizing a reliable English translation. Our Statutes were drafted in 2001 when the Association was created, and were last amended in 2008. The language of our Association from the beginning has been English, as is evidenced by our name (see Article 1). Important provisions from our Statutes are our goal (Article 4): ‘promoting the fair and efficient handling of patent litigation in Europe’, our membership requirements (Article 7, recently explained by the Guidelines also found on this page), the board membership term (Article 14, in principle three years), and the existence of an Advisory Board (Article 14, last paragraphs).
